Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau

Art Infusion celebrates art in the great outside with guest artists creating murals, a chalk art competition, tours, exhibits and more. Come down to the river walk, see the beautiful drawings, and chat with artists. Chalk artists of all skill levels, kids ages 10 and up, and adults are all invited to join the chalk drawing competition.

Pre-register online or at the Janesville CVB office (20 S Main St, Ste 11), 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday through September 6. Registration will be available at the office, Saturday, September 7 from 9 AM to 4 PM and Sunday, September 8, 9 AM to 12 Noon. Art will be judged on Sunday, September 8 at 2 PM, and drawing award announcements will be made at 3:30 PM at Firehouse Park.

Featured Mural Artists

CJ Hungerman, Chicago, IL

Wall mural: Associated Collectors at 113 W Milwaukee St (south wall, back of building)

CJ has created many public art projects in Chicago. His most notable piece is a 500 square foot original artwork he conceived and created for the new Chinatown Library. In 2021, CJ created the We Rise Mural located high on the back of Olde Towne Mall and 2023 he created Fowl Wall at 113 W Milwaukee St.

Matthew Mederer (aka CoolDiscoRich), Chicago, IL

Wall mural: Midwest Indoor Storage at 314 W Milwaukee St (north wall)

A self-taught artist, Matthew has been pushing boundaries and promoting original ideas through his artwork for over 20 years. His depth and breadth of styles, ranging from graffiti to realism, has helped him realize an original body of work. His signature style combines, Realism, and optical illusions. He has worked with big brands such as Vans and Cisco. His art has been featured on the hit television show, NBC's Chicago PD. Lu Calzada of The Chicago Sun-Times said of his mural "Prima" his work "aims to inspire new beginnings."

Sharon Gaver, Janesville, WI

Sharon says that she loves art! She has a background that includes a career in art education and has chalked alongside featured muralist Leigh Alfredson during past Art Infusion events. Sharon was an art teacher for the School District of Janesville for more than 30 years and has also taught art via private lessons. Sharon continues to make the world a beautiful place with her art and we are grateful for that. She was a featured artist for the 2023 Art Infusion and we are happy to welcome her back the event this year!

The Speece Family, Madison, WI

We are celebrating 10 years of the Speece family competing in the Art Infusion Chalk Art Competition! This talented family began participating when Grandma (Judy) suggested it in 2014. At that time Master Chalk Artist, Leigh Alfredson gave the family some pointers and the rest is history. Mom (Beverly) and the girls developed amazing skills over the years. They are an incredible team! They continue to participate together each year and have gone on to compete in other regional chalk art competitions.

In-person registration is available at the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau office in Olde Towne Mall at 20 S Main St, Ste 11 in downtown Janesville during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturday, September 7 from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Sunday, September 8 from 9 AM to 12 Noon.
